Juline Florentino
Soprano
Juline Florentino is a french-brasilian soprano, born in
Versailles. She grew up in Strasbourg where she started her
musical upbringing with the harpsichord. In the course of her
many experiences, she has had the chance of singing, among
others, under the direction of Theodore Guschlbauer and Marko
Letonja. Since 2022, she lives in Berlin where she studies at
the Universität der Künste Berlin in the class of Joshua
Whitener.
Juline's voice stands out thanks to its warm and suave tone
coupled to thrilling yet easy highs. Her nonchalant and subtle
voice married to her zesty character perfectly suits to Mozart's
roles such as Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail),
Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro) or Despina (Così fan tutte).
Stimulated above all by collaboration with other talents, she
starts a Guitar-Voice duo in 2020 with Valentin Weber. They
win the second price of the Concours de Musique de Chambre de
l'Abrapa in 2021. This collaboration will lead them to a
widened repertory going from Dowland, Schubert and Villa-Lobos
all the way to contemporary repertory together with some
creations of Valentin himself. They were to be heard in April
2022 in their “Sortilège” concert in Strasbourg. Since 2025,
Juline has been working closely with Zoé Barbay with whom they
started a piano-voice duo between Lyon (FR) and Berlin (DE).
Their shared and extended passion for lied and melody brought
them to a masterclass hosted by Philippe Biros in August 2025.
It is through early music that Juline started her musical
education and it still, up to this day, takes a special spot
for her. Between 2015 and 2025 she sang at numerous concerts
and early music programs in the likes of the
Concerts aux chandelles accompanied by Gilbert
Verge-Borderolle and Géraldine Bruley in France's Haute
Garonne region. In 2022 and despite COVID restrictions, she
sang part of a Soprano role in Pergolesi's
Stabat Mater. In the list of oratorios, she was heard
in Der Tod Jesu from Graun, a concert organized in
Berlin and directed by Kai Uwe-Irka. Her repertory is also
composed of the soprano parts of Bach's Passions and
Christmas Oratorio.
New music is not left behind, it is through the teaching of
Françoise Kubler that Juline falls in love with it. She has
had the chance of creating different pieces for choir and two
Lieder of Lukas Mertin originating from the
Cycle for Soprano and Bass Op2.
Juline makes her scenes debut at the age of 12 where she plays
an extra in the Huguenots of Meyerbeer staged by
Olivier Py. This experience left a mark deep within her and
defined her future until today. In the course of her years at
the maîtrise de l'Opéra national du Rhin, she will participate
in different productions, both in the choirs and as a solist
such as in
The Cunning Little Vixen (La Petite Renarde rusée) from
Janáček staged by Robert Carsen. In 2025, it is in a
production of Street Scene from Kurt Weill that Juline
took part as an understudy for Rose as well as Salvation Army
Girl 1, Nurse 1 and Laura Hilldebrandt.
